What? No trip to Ybor City? - Written by: Ted Schrader
Hey Mario and Jamie,

It seems like another lifetime since the Tampa days. Good to see you stayed in Hong Kong for a couple days; I'll have to read more about your trip to see if you made it down to Stanley, where I stayed for a month.

On your second world tour are you going to hit Australia and NZ?

M & J, Though this is temporarily your last day, the adventure never stops. Your travels will change how you see even the smallest details of everyday life. Congratulations you two!

Junior and Jaimie,

How will I start my days now without yur blog to read?

We'd love to have you stop in while you're in NY state. We are quiet AND we have AC -- not that we've needed it yet this summer.

Thanks for sharing you adventures!

Those horses looked beautiful. One of my favorite Disney movies was about the Lippizanner stallions. Glad you got to see them.

Hi guys! Thanks for the in depth history, especially the part about the Jewish extermination in WWII. My grandfather was born in Vienna and fled to Paris when he was 16. His entire family stayed behind and were all murdered. After the war was over, and he couldn't find any of them, he came to Philadelphia. It is so interesting to see your pictures and hear your stories. One day Brendan and I will travel there to reconnect with my roots. Enjoy the rest of Vienna! Miss you guys! It was great seeing you at our wedding :)

Jaimie and Mario, I am sad that your trip is winding down. I am a faithful reader, so hopefully you will write a book. Of course I also follow the Cal and Indy web site. This trip has been amazing, we can't wait to see you sometime, sorry we will miss you at the lake. Love Aunt Gail

Day 160 - Wrapping up Russia
Written by Mario
Sunday, 04 June 2006

It was warm today - almost 80 degrees - but that didn't make a difference to Jaimie's head cold.  We took it easy in the morning, and headed to a lunch restaurant just around the corner from the Sheraton.  Makaroni's write up on some random Russian website wasn't so good, so we had very low expectations - more a restaurant out of convenience.  Our meal was very good, bruschetta, and two fresh pasta dishes for us.   It's funny, certain expectations that have been set for us "westerners".  IE, appetizers are meant to come out first, right?  And usually meals should be served at one time when there's more than one person dining.  But our Russian experience has abolished these expectations.  Many of our meals have come out 10-15 minutes apart, and appetizers can come with, or after meals, never before.  Strange.   At Makaroni's, the appetizer was served with our main courses (pretty much making you wish you didn't order them at all :)), but at least it was delicious, and our meals were served at the same time - making for a "good review" by us :).

Day 159 - Moscow
Written by Jaimie
Saturday, 03 June 2006
We took a day off today, as we were both feeling pretty tired from all of the days of city touring.  My throat and sinus sickness had gotten worse over the last few days - I think due to the cold air combined with massive amounts of cigarette smoke and car exhaust fumes in the Russian cities.

Day 158 - Moscow
Written by Mario
Friday, 02 June 2006

The Kremlin was our target for today.  Via subway, we arrived just north of Red Square.   On our way out of the subway station, we caught a glance of the very unimpressive former KGB headquarters building, now home to its successor, the FSB (Federal Security Bureau).   Wanting to view the buildings in a different light, we headed into the Red Square, only to find that it was closed.  It was already 10:30am, but I guess the square was opening late today?
