Good Morning, Vietnam!  (Please re-read and sound like Robin Williams).   We are knee deep in Communist territories now.  When we first landed, I had this unshakable feeling that I needed to be on my best behavior, lest I be put into a communist prison for spreading anti-communist thoughts.   But I guess that wore off quickly as we began to meet people yesterday (not that I'm being "bad" anyways) :).

We had a slow start this morning, as we decided to use the internet at the hotel for a while (you never know when you might get it again :)). After that, we had a late breakfast at 10:30am.  Instead of the greasiest omelettes (yesterday's breakfast), we opted for the fruit stuffed pancakes.  These were also covered in oil but didn't have the deep fried feel of our previous eggs.  It seems like they like to use a lot of cooking oil here!

We were on tour today.  We decided to head out to My Son (pronounced mee son), centre for the Champa kingdom - which ruled from the 4th to 13th centuries.  A set of temples were created at My Son during these era.  Unfortunately, the Viet Cong used the structures as a base, and, of course, American B-52s bombed the temples.

It's a short journaling day today, as we spent much of the day in transit.  We got the chance to sleep in this morning and caught a late breakfast just as the restaurant was closing at 10am. Unfortunately, we got our order for the french toast in with a waiter who was a little too eager to leave his shift... He said ok, but after 20 minutes and everyone else getting their orders and our waiter no where in sight, we realized there would be no french toast for us :(

We were off on our walking tour today.  After getting breakfast to our room (there's no room for a restaurant in this extremely slim building we're in), we began to walk towards the reunification palace.  Along the way, we passed through the Cong Vien Van Hoa Park, where there were a few people doing something similar to tai chi but with a sword, along with other weird stretch movements - it was interesting to watch :).
