After having spent over 6 hours viewing the falls yesterday, we decided to get a slower start today, as we had heard that there was less to do on the Brazil side of the falls. People from Brazil and Argentina argue over who has the better park for viewing the falls, but most people tend to vote for Argentina. Brazil does have more land in the actual park, however, most of it rainforest. |

We awoke at 4:45 am this morning - fun. We arrived at the airport about 5:50 am for our 6:50 am flight. Unfortunately, the flight to Manaus was through Sao Paulo - a major hub for TAM airlines (Brazilian airline). It was unfortunate because it was a Airbus 320 = 168 passengers in front of us trying to get on too! We waited in line for 50 minutes to check-in - dangerously close to our flight time. Luckily, we made it (and our baggage too). |

After having high hopes for getting a lot of sleep last night, we were once again disappointed. The first problem was our air-conditioner, which we were grateful to have, but it was the loudest thing we have ever heard. It made it hard to sleep, but when we tried turning it off in the middle of the night, there were lots of other noises to replace it. From the street party going on outside our hotel, to strange typewriter-like noises coming from the room next to us, to the lobby phone that sounded like a fire drill, we were kept up most of the night. |

We slept pretty well last night - surrounded by the sounds of the jungle - some rain, crickets, frogs, nuts falling from trees, cercadas, etc. We had breakfast a 7:30 am - eggs, bread, cheese, and fried banana - great way to start the day! We then had a relaxing hour to get ready for our day in the jungle. At 9:00 am, we were off with our new tour guide, Anthony. Anthony is a Marine Biologist, who previously served in the Brazilian special forces, spending months in the jungle with only a machete (wow). Our day was spent with Anthony (just the 3 of us), with Anthony walking us through the jungle - describing various flora, insects, answering a lot of our questions (especially about snakes :)). |

Surprisingly, given the exhausting day, we fell asleep pretty quickly in the Amazon Jungle last night. I awoke to howler monkeys in the middle of the night, but other than a few random awakenings, we slept very well in our hammocks. |
