Woke up this morning with no sickness, so fortunately we could continue on schedule. We grabbed a quick breakfast downstairs at the Westin and prepared to check out. One note to watch out for on some hotels (might just be the Westin Guatemala City :)), is that you really have to watch your bill. |

Ok - Mario got lucky with last night's food - it only took him out of commission for the night! After a quick breakfast, Manuel, our water guide, picked us up at 8 am at our hotel. As we drove along the lake front of Nicaragua, we passed a few local bars along the lake - they looked as if they were very hip places to be at one time, but these ill-maintained bars had become decrepid overtime. |

We had a full day of planning and traveling today which can be pretty tiring but we still got to see a lot of the countryside of Nicaragua. We started off our day with a little sleeping in and a nice breakfast at our hotel. We pretty much got the same breakfast as yesterday which was the Breakfast Americano (eggs, bacon and potatoes) but once we find something we like, we tend to stick with it. Plus, we are still trying to play it safe after having both of us get sick. |

Exausted - that's the best word to describe today. We "slept" in the communal room last night with 5 other people on very "comfortable" cots (calling them a cot is a stretch). We had fallen asleep to crickets and various sounds of the wildlife in Nicaragua, only to be awaken by 2 of our roommates snores. |

It was nice to just relax a little bit today and we had a nice location for it right on the beach of Charco Verde. We slept in a little bit this morning, as the howler monkeys and other various insects/birds seemed to be quite active and kept us awake in the early morning hours. Another breakfast of eggs, beans, rice, cheese and white bread - this seems to be the staple around here in all different varieties but really the same thing. We spent some time catching up on our photo editing and web pages, although we don't have an internet connection here on the island. |
